I believe a teacher’s role in society should be to nurture, push and guide young people in order to help mold them into their best selves. ”

Dana’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Mathematics

Why Mathematics

“Math is a subject that I have always liked due to the fact that there is always a solution that can be attained. Throughout my schooling, it was also a subject that I understood and could help others with. Now that I teach math, I push students to see that the beauty of the subject is that there are multiple different paths we can go down to reach the same destination.”

Professional Experience

Before beginning her teaching career, Dana worked as a tutor focused on helping students to reach grade-level performance. Her teaching experience ranged from being an observer in the classroom to the full time teacher.

Dana began teaching at Cass Technical High School during the 2017–2018 school year.

Volunteer Experience

For a summer, Dana worked at a nonprofit organization called Raquet-UP, in which students play squash and receive extra support in school, both during the school year and over the summer.

Hobbies

Dana enjoys baking and bike riding.
