Senior Fellows Program

The Senior Fellows Program builds on the foundation of the Teaching Fellowship to empower, support, and champion our national network of Senior Fellows in their professional growth and their ability to make positive educational change.

Support the Professional Learning of Educators

Knowles Senior Fellows design, implement, and engage in professional learning experiences for educators.

We believe that teachers learn best from other teachers, and the learning they engage in together elevates the collective expertise of the educational community. Our program supports Senior Fellows to understand adult learning principles and address the most pressing needs of today’s teachers, as well as to continue to engage as learners. Senior Fellows design, implement, and engage in professional learning experiences through the Knowles Academy, provide individual coaching to teachers, and support a community of teachers who lead and develop professional learning for educators.

Projects include:

  • Professional Learning for Facilitation
  • Teacher Coaching
  • Instructor Development
  • Professional Learning Design
  • Funding for National Board Certification
  • Senior Fellow Knowles Summer Conference Grant
  • Free enrollment in Knowles Academy Courses

Foster a Community and Network of Teacher Leaders

Knowles Senior Fellows foster and fortify teacher networks to collectively leverage their strengths.

We believe that the most effective teacher leadership is collective, and that positive change in education is best achieved by building networks, communities, and collaborations. Our program provides ongoing opportunities for Senior Fellows to develop and sustain relationships across the Knowles Community, in order to enjoy a diversity of ideas, experiences, and perspectives that improve the quality of their teacher leadership vision and work. Senior Fellows connect intentionally around shared goals and interests, search for ideas and innovations, and reinvest in each others’ joy and motivation in the profession.

Projects include:

  • Online and in-person networking
  • Conference networking
  • Support of Teaching Fellows Program

Elevate Teacher Voice and Knowledge

Knowles Teacher Leaders share their knowledge, resources,  and stories to drive educational change.

We believe that teachers are well-positioned to improve education in their classrooms and beyond, and we know the power that storytelling and knowledge sharing can hold in the process of transforming educational outcomes for students. We support our Senior Fellows to publish and present, offering writing support and conference grants to help our Senior Fellows share what they’re learning with the world. Our practitioner journal, Kaleidoscope,  strives to provide readers and writers a public space for discourse and dialogue about the knowledge and expertise of teachers and the complexity of our profession. Through our Knowles Academy and other projects, Knowles offers opportunities for Senior Fellows to develop and share teaching resources with a broader network of teachers.

Projects include:

Drive Change in Education

Knowles Teacher Leaders address needs and drive educational improvement in their local contexts.

Because teachers are in the best position to understand what is and is not working in their own classrooms and schools, we believe that teachers should be the drivers of educational improvement. We support Senior Fellows to work with colleagues and provide leadership to positively impact student learning, their own teaching practice, their schools, and the teaching profession. Our program offers support for grant writing, project development, and funding for Senior Fellows’ initiatives.

Projects include:

  • Seed grants for Senior Fellows’ leadership initiatives
  • Special Interest Groups
  • Senior Fellow Initiative Grants
  • Grant writing support and review
