A teacher’s role in society is to inspire, support, and encourage students in becoming the best version of themselves. This comes to life through the various roles a teacher fulfills by being a resource for content, empowering their students, and enhancing their curiosities and passions. Teachers are there to provide the building blocks so that students can construct their own future and the future of our communities.”

Grace’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Chemistry

Why Chemistry

I chose chemistry because it connects a lot of the dots throughout different science fields as to why things happen the way they do. It ties together the subjects of science and math.

Professional Experience

During her undergraduate studies, Grace tutored middle school students through the Schools of Hope Program and worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Buller Lab, where she investigated use of an L-Thr Transaldolase enzyme to produce beta-hydroxy amino acids via biocatalysts.  She also worked as an Advancement via Individual Determination Tutor. Last year, she taught chemistry to high school students.

Grace will begin her first year of teaching at Hillwood High School during the 2022–2023 school year.

Hobbies

Grace enjoys baking, cooking, and reading in her spare time. She is also a hot yoga enthusiast.
