Wanda’s Story
Wanda is proud to have been selected as 2021 Michigan middle school science teacher of the year and has continued to advance culturally relevant instruction by contributing to stem teaching tools Attending to Race and Identity in Science Instruction, MSTA publications Summer: A TimeTo Get Caught Up on Reading and Reflecting and Implementing The Shifts in Michigan Science Standards: Professional Development That Puts The Pieces Together. Wanda is now retired from Detroit Public Schools Community District where she served as middle and high school science teacher, mentor, vertical team lead, and on district science leadership teams. She loves to read and engage in science activities with her seven grandNUGGETS.
