Cacophony or embarrassment of riches: Building a system of support for quality teaching
Teacher quality is a central focus in educational reform discussions. Numerous teacher development programs exist, but the lack of coherence and control leads to unintended consequences. This article outlines the variability in teacher learning opportunities, its consequences, and challenges in reforming the system to provide coherent, high-quality learning experiences.
